Full Program Description

The Jefferson Interprofessional Palliative Care program provides students with an opportunity to increase their knowledge of palliative care by working in interprofessional teams composed of students from various disciplines.  Students will learn the importance of collaborative partnerships between care providers and how they drive improvements to the quality of life for patients with serious illnesses and at the end of life.  The program runs from January to April and includes an in person experience observing one of Jefferson's palliative care team rounds.
With the mentorship of faculty and clinical advisors, participating students will be responsible for completing an online curriculum, organizing team meetings, learning the essential principles of palliative care and participating with the Jefferson Palliative Care team.  After completing the program, participants can expect to better understand the roles and responsibilities of different team members in providing palliative care, as well as how to effectively utilize communication skills with patients and caregivers.
