Now presenting the Certificate of Excellence in Interprofessional Collaborative Practice. JCIPE is pleased to offer this distinction to students of Thomas Jefferson University starting in the 2024-2025 academic year.
The goal of the JCIPE curriculum is to standardize required competencies in interprofessional education and collaborative practice across all Thomas Jefferson University healthcare professional programs.
The framework builds upon each level to increase knowledge and skills in interprofessional collaborative practice so students are prepared to enter the healthcare workforce as effective interprofessional clinicians.
Why is this curriculum important?
The curriculum ensures inclusion of accreditation standards for all healthcare professional colleges and programs. It also allows flexibility in programming choices for students.
How do our programs fit into the curriculum framework?
Programs can fall into one of three categories within the curriculum framework. These include exposure, immersion, and preparation for practice. The table below describes the definition for each program level and provides examples of these programs.

How do these programs work together to educate students?
Exposure, immersion, and preparation for practice programs are designed for students to acquire interprofessional knowledge, practice applying skills, and deepening understanding to enter clinical practice as an interprofessional clinician.
Each healthcare professional student at Thomas Jefferson University is expected to achieve the Foundational Requirement. After meeting the Foundational Requirement, students are encouraged to pursue the Certificate in Excellence in Interprofessional Collaborative Practice.
