Dual MD/MPH Program
Program Information
The MD/MPH dual degree option is open to students enrolled at Jefferson’s Sidney Kimmel Medical College (SKMC).
SKMC students usually complete two rotations of Phase 3 before stepping out of medical school to complete MPH coursework. Students return to Phase 3 at SKMC the following July. Accepted SKMC students may also defer their medical school start for one year to complete an MPH.
MD/MPH students from SKMC begin in the fall trimester (September) and finish their MPH coursework in the summer trimester (June). Both degrees (MD and MPH) are conferred the following May.
The Joseph Gonnella Scholarship covers a portion of MPH tuition and fees and is available to eligible SKMC students.
Physicians with an MPH degree are prepared to make a difference at the patient's side and in the community. The degree provides advanced training in research and education and informs clinical practice with underserved populations. Physicians with an MPH degree assume leadership positions in the healthcare setting, in state and local public health departments, non-governmental health organizations, and in the global context.
