APhA’s Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate Training Program (14th Edition) is an innovative, intensive, and practice-based continuing pharmacy education, based on national educational standards for immunization training from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This program is designed to educate pharmacists about the professional opportunities for vaccine advocacy and administration.
This practice-based curriculum represents a fusion of science and clinical pharmacy. The program, which emphasizes a health care team approach, seeks to foster the implementation of interventions that will promote disease prevention and public health.
The purpose of this certificate training program is to prepare pharmacists with comprehensive knowledge, skills, and resources necessary to provide immunization services to patients across the life span.
The January 10th offering of this program will be online only.
Participants must obtain their own supplies and identify a healthcare professional experienced with immunizations to assess their injection technique. Jefferson College of Pharmacy cannot provide supplies or complete the injection technique with you.
Activity Completion Requirements
To obtain credit for "Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery" complete home study activities, complete both home study and final assessments with a grade of 70% or better, attend the live seminar, successfully complete the injection technique assessment, complete the evaluations.
Course material and exams and live webinar session will be accessed online. In order to participate in this activity, registrants must have access to a computer.

To participate in the live webinar, participants must:
- Join the Zoom webinar by computer, tablet, or any mobile device.
- Have a working camera and have video enabled throughout the entire program.
- Be present for the entirety of the program to be eligible for completion of the certificate training.
- Join the meeting 15-30 minutes early to test that your microphone and camera are working properly and to check-in.
- If planning to use a MacBook, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, iMac, etc., please navigate to https://zoom.us/ (using the Mac computer that will be used for the Zoom session), click on the Download link at the right side of the screen, download and install/run the installer program (named Zoom.pkg).

- Complete self-study by 1/10/2025
- Attend live training on 1/10/2025
- Complete injection technique assessment by 1/17/2025
- Complete final exam and evaluation and claim certificate by 1/24/2025
Home study activities – complete modules, home study assessment, and home study evaluation before January 10, 2025
Live seminar – join Jefferson faculty via Zoom on January 10, 2025 to complete the live seminar (all participants will be provided with a link)
Injection technique assessment – You are responsible for identifying a healthcare professional who can evaluate your technique within a week of the live seminar
Your evaluator must observe you successfully give another person two intramuscular and one subcutaneous injections and complete the Injection Technique Assessment Form (instructions and form will be provided)
Completed and signed forms must be returned to the program coordinator by January 17, 2025
Requirements to serve as the evaluator: Your evaluator can be anyone who has the current scope of practice to immunize (e.g, a trained pharmacist, a nurse, etc.).
- Must assess based on the technique taught in class
- Must have had OSHA training for bloodborne pathogens within the last year
- Learners cannot assess themselves or fellow learners
You will need to acquire the assessment supplies on your own which include the following:
- Gloves (minimum 1 pair)
- Face masks and face shields and any other PPE (recommend following the standards of your state/organization)
- 1 mL or 3 mL x 25G x 1 inch safety syringes for intramuscular injections (minimum 2)
- 1 mL or 3 mL x 25G x 5/8 inch safety syringes for subcutaneous injections (minimum 1)
- Bandaids (minimum 3)
- Alcohol swabs (minimum 4)
- Cotton balls or gauze pads (minimum 3)
- Sodium chloride 0.9%, preservative free, single dose vial, 10 mL or smaller (minimum 1)
- Sharps container (1)

Injection technique assessment verification and final exam and evaluation – Upon successful completion of the injection technique assessment and receipt of the Injection Technique Assessment Form, you will be granted access to the final exam and live seminar evaluation. Once the exam and evaluation are completed, you can access your certificate of achievement. These steps must be completed by January 24, 2025.
