Veterans are innovative, resilient, team-oriented, and comfortable in stressful situations. That’s why veterans make incredible nurses. Jefferson College of Nursing has deep experience turning veterans into highly skilled nurses and facilitates the transformation of military skills into nursing acumen while addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of veterans.
Honoring Our Veterans
Dear Veterans,
Jefferson College of Nursing salutes our veteran population on this important day. In honor of all those who served, as a token of our appreciation we are offering American flags for purchase. We are requesting a minimum donation of $5, though you are welcome to donate any amount you wish. Please list the veteran you would like to honor in the comment section in the following form. The flags will be displayed on Lubert Plaza, in front of the Hamilton building.
Scholarships Available
The JCN-Robert & June Eyerly Scholarship is available annualy to students who have served in the military or are descendants of veterans.

Community Partners
Jefferson College of Nursing has developed a partnership with Leashes of Valor, a non-profit organization founded in 2017 that provides service dogs to support veterans affected with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and/or military sexual trauma (MST). We’re collecting data on the effect of service dogs on veterans with PTSD, with the goal of allowing physicians to prescribe service dogs.
The relationship with Leashes of Valor brought a new, four-legged member to our front office - Maggie, a two-year-old golden retriever now known as the college's Chief Compassion Officer.
Our partnership with Nurses at War will research how military nurses reintegrate into society. To highlight their efforts, Dean Marino awarded Jefferson College of Nursing alumni Col. Margaret “Meg” Lockhead Carey, BSN ’85, ARNP, USAF, Ret., with the Jefferson College of Nursing Distinguished Alumni Award in November 2020.
Along with this, we offer several special programs that transform military skills into nursing acumen while addressing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of veterans.
