Clinical Sites
- Thomas Jefferson University Narcotic Addiction Rehabilitation Program (NARP)
NARP is an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), certified by the Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) that offers medications for opioid use disorder (Methadone and Buprenorphine), individual and group psychotherapy intervention, assertive outreach and care management, and medical monitoring /medication management. It is a major teaching site for medical students, residents, and fellows. It is located at the corner of 21st Street and Avenue in South Philadelphia.
- Jefferson Outpatient Addiction Psychiatry Service (JOAPS)
JOAPS is an outpatient psychiatry clinic serving patients with co-occurring substance use disorders, behavioral addictions, and psychiatric disorders (mood, anxiety, psychotic disorders). The clinic provides evidence-based treatments for opioid, alcohol, tobacco, stimulant, and cannabis use disorders. It sees people from across the entire socio-economic spectrum including those who are publicly and privately insured. It is located at the department’s main office at 33 South 9th Street.
- Choosing Health: Adolescents Reaching Their Goals Through Empowerment (CHARGE) Clinic
CHARGE is an outpatient psychiatry clinic focusing on the prevention of substance use disorders and the treatment of co-occurring substance and psychiatric disorders in adolescents and young adults (up to age 25). Addiction and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist Fellows work with the patient, family members, and schools to provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and treatment. It is located at the department’s main office at 33 South 9th Street.
- Jefferson Addiction Multidisciplinary Service (JAMS)
JAMS provides inpatient addiction consult services to patients admitted at Jefferson Health. The service helps manage complex intoxication and withdrawal syndromes in patients who are acutely medically ill. Our fellows not only learn how to safely and effectively manage these difficult cases, but they also aid developing discharge plans and ensuring that patients are referred to appropriate level of care.
