Thyroid & Parathyroid Research
The Jefferson Thyroid and Parathyroid Center is a unique, multi-disciplinary vehicle for developing personalized patient care. Collaborative work with the Department of Radiology is underway to use machine learning to predict nodules with high risk for malignancy on ultrasound. In addition, the center's research efforts revolve around the use of molecular diagnostics to personalize health care. Currently, optimal clinical pathways for thyroid cancer care are being developed based on next generation gene sequencing techniques that characterize the behavior of thyroid cancers. One active quality improvement project is investigating patient satisfaction with a video supplement to consent for thyroid surgery.
