Resident Research Rotation
The research rotation is a 6-month block of dedicated research time in the PGY-4 year that allows the resident to focus on key projects in the area of interest under the guidance of the research mentor. The program involves four days per week of research time with one clinical day of operative time. The curriculum involves scheduled meetings with Dr. Curry and the research mentor(s). The research residents also participate in the research course led by Ms. Duddy. Residents are expected to have produced at least two deliverables (protocols, presentations, manuscripts, etc.) during their research block. The objective is to develop basic research skills and guide at least one project from start to finish under the guidance of their mentor. Resident travel is supported to meetings where their work is presented, and the fourth year residents compete for best fourth year project and the Balshi award at the annual Research Symposium. In 2019, our residents made 76 presentations at national meetings.
