Department of Neurology
Our department’s neurologists have been recognized nationally and internationally for clinical and research expertise and innovations. The department's overarching goal is to provide patients compassionate care while working to develop new treatments that will lessen the toll of neurological disorders.
As part of the Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience, the region's only dedicated hospital for neuroscience, our neurologists participate in leading-edge, multidisciplinary care. The department sponsors a fully accredited residency training program, fellowship programs, as well as educational programs for medical students.
Neuroscience research is a focus at Jefferson as exemplified by the Vickie and Jack Farber Institute for Neuroscience, established in the spring of 2002. All Neurologic Specialty Centers are involved in research endeavors as well. See our Research section for more information.

Educational Programs
Residency Program
The SKMC Neurology Residency Program is a fully accredited four-year training program, is designed to provide comprehensive training in all contemporary aspects of clinical neurology. The program features a progressive increase in patient care and teaching responsibilities.
Fellowship Programs
The Department of Neurology offers fellowship opportunities in clinical neurophysiology, epilepsy, cerebrovascular disease, headache, and neuromuscular disease.
Undergraduate Student Training in Alzheimer's Research (USTAR)
The Departments of Neurology and Family & Community Medicine in collaboration with Delaware State University is offering a research training experience for undergraduate students of diverse backgrounds, to stimulate interest in pursuing research careers related to Social Determinants of Health and risk of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.
