Research

Purpose

To collect and analyze data from RHP events in order to identify strengths, areas for improvement, and accomplishments for the various RHP committees.

What We Do

The Research Committee maintains a dynamic database that accounts for all RHP events, documenting vital information such as the number of volunteers, number of patients treated, and activities performed at RHP events. This database will serve as an opportunity to assess how well our efforts are received and what services are commonly requested and performed so that RHP can actively modify their efforts to best serve the community. In addition to the database, the committee also works on research projects with Jefferson advisors and staff members, and helps coordinate recreational learning sessions to teach the student body about the culture and common problems facing the refugee populations in Philadelphia.

Projects

  • Plan recruitment events at Jefferson.
  • Bi-annual RHP newsletter for the Refugee community detailing what RHP has done.
  • Establishing Jefferson student shadowing at the Refugee Pediatric Clinic at Jefferson Hospital.
  • Organizing events and talks to increase awareness of Refugee health concerns and issues.
