What We Do

RHP education committee offers various educational services to refugee populations. We firmly believe that education is an indispensable tool for change and betterment. Our many programs, ranging from tutoring to waiting room education to healthcare workshops, aim to provide the community with the skills and knowledge they need to improve not only their health but also help them adjust to life in Philadelphia.

Projects

  • Tutoring: involves working with high school students at South Philly HS to assist them with school homework, college applications, SAT prep, improving their English, etc.
  • Women’s Health Group: small group health education sessions with Bhutanese, Burmese, and Karen women discussing topics such as contraception, miscarriages, pregnancies, etc.
  • Parents’ Workshops: small group discussions with parents about various topics such as stress management, nutrition, mental health,
  • Youth Group: sessions with high school students about mental wellness and self-empowerment, with lessons focused on topics such as self-confidence, expression, stress relief, leadership
  • Waiting Room Education: involves initiating discussions with patients at RHP clinics about health topics like hypertension, smoking cessation, etc.
  • Einstein Nutrition Education: involves teaching nutrition at Einstein’s pediatric clinic
