Clinics

The Clinic Committee is responsible for organizing a free acute care clinic in collaboration with the Bhutanese American Organization of Philadelphia (BAO-P). BAO-P inaugurated its community center in South Philadelphia in January 2014. It provides citizenship and ESL classes, SAT/TOEFL courses for adults, Yoga, Bhajan and Kirtan classes, job preparation programs, and health and wellness training for the Bhutanese community.

The Clinic Committee is responsible for the recruitment of volunteers and physicians, distribution of medications, updating of charts, training of interpreters, outreach to the community, and management of flow on the day of clinic. The clinic committee works closely with RHP’s advocacy committee to address the social determinants of health and encourage continuity of care.

The clinic is held the first Saturday of each month and offers an opportunity for students enrolled in any Jefferson program to serve the local refugee community among like-minded peers.
