This virtual program will describe how occupational therapy practitioners can identify ergonomic risk factors for both students and staff in school settings and encourage conversation about solutions focusing on the person, environment, or occupation to build healthy habits and promote wellness. Specific topics such as backpack awareness, improving body mechanics and spine health, and analyzing instructional spaces and devices will be discussed.

This virtual program provides a supportive learning environment to empower school-based occupational therapy practitioners to implement change from a caseload to workload approach as described by the American Occupational Therapy Association. Specific strategies to advocate for service delivery change with administration and school teams are included.
