The MS in Textile Design program at Thomas Jefferson University blends aesthetic, conceptual, creative skills with emerging technologies. In our collaborative maker spaces, students turn innovative ideas into industry-leading products.
State-of-the-art facilities in the Fashion & Textiles Futures Center enable students to put professional skills into practice. From an extensive range of hand equipment to highly computerized technology, you have access to the tools to extend and expand your creative vision. Design studio courses comprise the majority of the coursework in the MS program, with design research and ideation emphasized from the beginning.
Graduate students select knit design, print design or woven design as a primary area of practice. Courses are taught by active members of the textile design field: artists, design directors, authors and researchers. Visiting artists and guest lecturers expand the educational experience, bringing immersive opportunities to the classroom experience.
Partnerships with industry thought leaders, national and international design competitions and exhibitions at global trade shows provide practical experience as students prepare for graduation. Internships are strongly supported and encouraged during the course of study. The MS in Textile Design program gives graduates a commanding competitive edge in the global textile marketplace with our graduates attaining positions in all areas of the industry — from national and international firms to boutique specialty firms.
