Thomas Jefferson University Announces Online Low Residency Option to MS Real Estate Development Program
Thomas Jefferson University’s College of Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) is thrilled to announce the addition of an Online Low Residency option to its Master of Science in Real Estate Development (MSRED) program.
The new Online Low Residency option will now give MSRED students the option to take classes on campus in East Falls, Philadelphia or online. Online students use Zoom to partake in the live classroom on campus, giving online students the same opportunity to engage in active dialogue with faculty and fellow students.
Additionally, all students (online and on campus) will be required to participate in the new MSRED Residency, a two to four-day experience once a semester, where all students come together and explore Philadelphia or other cities. The residency includes the opportunity to network with industry professionals, tour real project sites and neighborhoods, and learn from guest speakers through lectures, conferences and seminars. Each semester will offer a different residency to build upon the curriculum and provide in-person experiences to all students. Find out more about the MSRED Residency.
This new offering allows the program to expand, working with students from a variety of locations, and further engage in its mission of preparing future leaders in real estate development – leaders that will have the skills to address the key issues within the industry throughout the 21st century.
Led by new Program Director, Troy Hannigan, Assoc. AIA, SEED, the MSRED program utilizes a quadruple bottom line approach that prioritizes environmental sustainability, social consciousness, design excellence, and economic viability in order to gain first-hand experience as to how real estate development invigorates communities by shaping healthy places to live, work, and play. Utilizing the greater Philadelphia area as a living laboratory, MSRED students learn how to approach impactful projects at various scales – ranging from single buildings to entire neighborhoods.
The MSRED program’s curriculum features 37 credit hours of study across a variety of specializations such as Real Estate, Finance, Sustainability, Construction, and others – and is led by a diverse, highly-accomplished faculty – whose expansive industry experience provide a framework for student learning.
