Built upon a strong tradition of forward-thinking design education, we’re continuing our legacy as a globally recognized leader in design. In the visual communication design program, you’ll strategize new ways for businesses to speak to their customers. In the industrial design program, you’ll develop new products and bring them to market for companies like Philips, Knoll, and Umbra. In Fashion Design you’ll receive an extraordinary introduction into the fast-paced, creative and energetic fashion industry. Design has the power to shape our future, and when you study at the cutting edge, the future is in your hands.
Industry Partner: SharkNinja
Every year, industrial design students look forward to the industry sponsored Sprint Project, where students on all levels of the program design and pitch a new product for a company where our alumni work- all in a single week! In 2023, our partner was Eric Holzer of SharkNinja.
Annual Fashion Design Film
One major highlight of each school year is Jefferson’s Annual Fashion Design Film where we proudly showcase the incredible work of our graduating seniors in Fashion Design.
Industry Partner + Nexus Collaboration Project, Inclusive Design Studio
Visual Communication Design and Occupational Therapy students collaborated with industry partner Carousel Connections to help young adults with disabilities live independent and healthy lives, in their Inclusive Design elective.
Center for Excellence in Surface Imaging
For more than a decade, the Center has conducted research projects and educational events related to design, applied engineering, and business aspects of inkjet textile printing technologies. Surface imaging is about creating imagery in various physical forms using a variety of digital printing technologies, including “direct surface imaging” on porous and non-porous substrates and “fabrication printing” through material deposition and subtraction printing technologies (laser and 3D printing).
