It is the policy of the Offices of International Services (OIS)  and Graduate Medical Education (GME) that all residents and fellows undertaking global health travel must complete pre-travel requirements and receive approval prior to departure.

Residents who do not complete these requirements four (4) weeks prior to travel will not be permitted to travel, and will not receive funding or education/research time.

  1. Obtain valid US passport
  2. Review/Apply for funding opportunities  
  3. Obtain travel/evacuation insurance (International SOS; HTH; United HealthcareVISITGEOBlue)
  4. Make travel medicine appointment
  5. Download and complete voluntary participation and assumption of risk agreement
  6. Read, sign, and submit the online Code of Conduct
  7. Register travel plan with the U.S. Department of State
  8. Read and print the Jefferson Emergency plan for resident physicians during international travel
  9. Obtain letter of agreement between Jefferson and Host institution
