Curriculum & Program Structure
The Abdominal Imaging Fellowship is structured as a one year course with 13 Blocks - each four weeks long:
- MRI: 5 Blocks
- Body CT: 2 Blocks
- Ultrasound: 2 Blocks
- Elective: 1 Block
- PET/CT: 0.5 Block
- Interventional: 1.5 Blocks
- Advanced Imaging Applications: 1 Block
MRI
- Protocol development and interpretation of Body MRI (~10000 cases per year)
- Principles of MRI physics
- Interpret advanced MRI techniques
- MR Defecography
- MR Enterography
- MR Prostate
- MR Elastography
- MR Rectal cancer staging
- Studies performed on 12 1.5-Tesla, 2 3-Tesla, and 1 PET/MRI scanner
CT
- Protocol development and interpretation of CT (~30000 exams per year)
- Interpret advanced CT applications
- CT Angiography
- CT Urography
- CT Colonography
- Dual Energy CT
- Multiphasic imaging of the liver, pancreas, and kidneys
- Studies performed on a variety of scanners (10), including four state-of-the-art dual-energy scanners
Ultrasound
- Interpret and participate in scanning of all studies (~60000 exams per year)
- Interpret advanced ultrasound examinations
- Vascular Ultrasound
- Contrast enhanced ultrasound
- Gray scale/Doppler examinations of the abdomen/pelvis
- Prostate imaging and biopsy
- Hands on advanced scanning techniques
- Scan with senior physicians and technologists
- Daily feedback from attendings

- Image guided liver biopsy
- Image guided renal biopsy
- Image guided lung biopsy
- Ultrasound guided thyroid biopsy
- Paracentesis and thoracentesis
