The BS in Accounting curriculum combines solid foundation in Business Core and Hallmarks liberal arts Core with in-depth disciplinary knowledge in one of six majors. Students gain technical proficiency through Analytics Core designed to unlock value buried in data using cutting-edge tools and techniques. The Design, Engineering & Commerce (DEC) Core offers a unique opportunity for students to collaborate with designers and engineers to gain a multidimensional perspective and develop creative solutions to complex business problems. Free electives can be used to pursue a minor, internship and/or take courses in the graduate program.

General Plan of Study

Hallmarks Core (31-33 credits)

  • Hallmarks Core is a cumulative general education program that builds essential skills to prepare students for future careers and includes courses in writing, history, ethics, global issues and more.

School of Business Core (30 credits)

  • Integrates key functional areas and disciplines of business (such as accounting, finance, management, marketing, economics, supply chain management) and provides a strong foundation for pursuing major in accounting and assuming leadership roles in organizations.

Free electives (21 credits)

  • Free electives can also be used to complete a minor within the School of Business or other programs at Jefferson. A minor requires a minimum of 12-credits. Free electives can also be used to pursue internships, study abroad programs, or research projects for credit.

Major Courses (18 credits)

  • Gain expertise in Marketing with advanced electives such as Consumer Behavior, Marketing Research, Brand Management and Digital Marketing.

Applied Business Analytics Core (12 credits)

  • Provides cutting edge knowledge and skills to identify, understand and deliver insights from large datasets. 

Design, Engineering & Commerce (DEC) Core (9 credits)

  • Introduces the principles and practices of innovation drawn from design thinking principles to identify opportunities and discover creative solutions to complex problems in a collaborative interdisciplinary environment. DEC core also includes 6-credit capstone courses that are integrated into the business core curriculum.
