The BS in Accounting program prepares you to become a professional with a broad understanding of public accounting and financial management of corporate and nonprofit organizations.
You will have the opportunity to network with accounting industry professionals, engage in real-world internships in public accounting and private industries, complete an exciting semester abroad, or help to run our Student Managed Investment Fund. You can also earn your Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree or MS in Taxation degree in one additional year of study while preparing for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) exam.
Program Highlights
The BS in Accounting program equips students with the skill sets needed to pursue personally and financially rewarding careers in public accounting and in financial management of corporate and non-profit organizations, as well as in governmental settings. Our program develops in-demand professionals with in-depth knowledge of accounting, and the professionalism to work effectively in any environment.

Student Experiences
- The Jefferson Accounting Society sponsors networking visits to area public accounting firms, professional association events such as the PICPA events and the AFWA Professional Seminar/Dinner Meetings.
- Professional Student Organizations include the DECA Collegiate Society, Jefferson Accounting Society, and JeffInvest Financial Literacy Club.
- In-class industry/accounting related projects such as student group reports on firm performance, firm histories, product(s), financial highlights, results of operations, financial position, cash flows, return on investment, accounting policies, stock performance, and company financial outlook. Companies recently presented by student groups include NIKE, BMW, Amazon, Apple, Bank of America, Disney, and Under Armour, to mention a few.
