Meet our Student: Alison Eberhardt

Why did you choose Jefferson?

I actually toured Jefferson six years ago at Philadelphia University for my Bachelor’s of Architecture. The location of this green, park-like campus and the diverse architecture, especially the contrast of Ravenhill Mansion and A&D, immediately caught my eye and I still love the physical campus today. I chose to continue my education at Jefferson CABE because I had met fantastic faculty that I knew I could learn more from and wanted to continue to work with. It didn’t hurt that I was hired as a Graduate Assistant for CABE, and I could continue my work with the Hassrick House, the Richard Neutra-designed home adjacent to campus and purchased by the university in 2017.

Where are you from originally?

I am originally from Upstate New York, Saratoga Springs, but I also lived in Buffalo while I worked at an architecture firm on several historic buildings. Let’s Go Buffalo!

What is the best part of your studies?

The best part of my education is how applicable it has been to my work experience, and how open my schedule has been for part-time work. The information I’ve learned in a classroom has been information I’ve used behind a computer or on-site surveys. Although I’ve worked in architecture firms on and off for the past six years, I’m getting some new experience as an Architectural Historian working for Richard Grubb & Associates.

What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?

I play viola and guitar, and some violin. I learned classical at first in fourth grade, but I can also fiddle.
