Master of Architecture Receives NAAB Accreditation

The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) has accredited Jefferson’s master of architecture(MArch) program.

NAAB accreditation is the primary means by which professional degree programs in architecture assure quality to students and the public, and students must graduate from a NAAB-accredited program in order to become licensed architects in their state.

“Our MArch program, along with the MS in Architecture, both allow students to develop research interests in high-performance buildings and façade design and technology,” says James Doerfler, director of the architecture programs. “Combining this with our collaborative opportunities with the College of Architecture and the Built Environment’s other graduate programs, students have amazing flexibility to develop professionally in a broad range of disciplines in the built environment.”

With the award-winning bachelor of architecture program, the University now has two professional degree options accredited by NAAB which lead to professional licensure, says Barbara Klinkhammer, executive dean of the College of Architecture and the Built Environment.

“This is a great accomplishment for our MArch program, building on a long tradition of teaching architecture and design at Jefferson,” she says.
