The O-1 visa classification is tailored for individuals recognized for their exceptional abilities in various fields such as sciences, arts, education, business, athletics, and the entertainment industry. Qualifications include national or international awards, prominent memberships, and significant research contributions.
- O-1 status can be granted for up to three years, extendable indefinitely in one-year increments.
- Employment under O-1 status is tied to the sponsoring employer; the employee may only work for the O-1 sponsor*
- Dependents, including spouses and unmarried children under 21, can accompany the O-1 visa holder.
