Ms. Cavalieri is the executive providing administrative oversight of legal, regulatory, and risk departments, including compliance, internal audit, enterprise risk, conflicts of interest, clinical risk, professional liability matters, and workers’ compensation for Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health.

As Chief Legal Officer, Ms. Cavalieri is responsible for all legal and corporate issues and transactions, and those matters implicating the legal, risk, corporate, and governance realms. She manages and directs negotiations, proceedings, litigation, contracting, and business transactions, and assesses risks and recommends risk-reduction strategies. As Assistant Secretary, Ms. Cavalieri advises on all substantive governance issues, including advising on the appropriate exercise of fiduciary duties.

Before Ms. Cavalieri joined Jefferson, she was a practicing attorney for more than 25 years. Her areas of specialization included M&A, capital finance, securities, governance, and governmental relations, with emphasis in the healthcare and academic business sectors. Ms. Cavalieri was a partner and management executive at the law firm of Pelino & Lentz, P.C., which is now merged into Archer & Greiner, P.C. At Pelino & Lentz, P.C., Ms. Cavalieri developed and managed the firm’s interdisciplinary healthcare department, and served as its healthcare and governance specialist. She also served as a member of its executive committee and co-chair of the firm’s compensation committee. While at Pelino & Lentz, Ms. Cavalieri was appointed outside general counsel to a large multifaceted quasi-governmental agency and served in that role from 1995 to 2005.

Ms. Cavalieri received her Juris Doctorate from the Temple University Beasley School of Law. She was a practicing nurse and held clinical and administrative positions while attending law school. She received her BSN from the College of New Jersey.

Ms. Cavalieri has been recognized as a thought and community leader, and is the recipient of The Judge Lisa A. Richette Outstanding Woman in Law Award from the Justinian Society. She was recognized by Pennsylvania’s Diversity Council as one of Pennsylvania’s Most Powerful & Influential Women.

Active in the legal and business communities, Ms. Cavalieri is a member of various bar and legal organizations and community boards. She serves on the Board of the Committee of Seventy (also served as its Vice Chair); the Board of Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation; and is a Commissioner of the State Transportation Committee of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the governing board of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

Ms. Kahn-Kothmann serves as the legal advisor in the Office of Legal Affairs for a variety of healthcare regulatory and transactional issues. These include providing counsel on hospital medical staff issues affecting Jefferson faculty members, advising on the structure and implementation of joint service arrangements between JUP and its hospital and other business partners, investigating reimbursement and other regulatory issues that impact the provision of clinical services by JUP, and counseling on information privacy and security issues.

Ms. Kahn-Kothmann received her law degree, cum laude, from Harvard University in 1992. While in law college, Ms. Kahn-Kothmann served as the Executive Director of the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau, the nation’s oldest student-run legal services office. In 1989, she received her Bachelor of Arts with distinction from the University of Virginia, where she majored in history and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Ms. Kahn-Kothmann joined Jefferson after 14 years in private practice, including, most recently, as a partner with the national healthcare practice of Reed Smith LLP. Ms. Kahn-Kothmann is a member of the Pennsylvania and New Jersey bars.

Ms. Kornrumpf serves as a legal advisor in the Office of Legal Affairs for healthcare and research related matters. These include providing counsel on research policies, misconduct and regulations, responding to professional licensure and certification matters related to Jefferson physicians and healthcare professionals, serving as a member on one of Jefferson’s Institutional Review Boards, investigating patient care issues, drafting healthcare agreements including affiliation agreements, advising on policy development affecting JUP practices, providing input on managed care contracting including credentialing agreements, and counseling on general healthcare regulatory matters impacting JUP practices.

Ms. Kornrumpf received her Bachelor of Science Degree (BSN) and her Master of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN) from The Ohio State University. She received her Master of Laws (LLM), with distinction, from Georgetown University Law Center, and her law degree (JD), cum laude, from the University of Akron College of Law. Ms. Kornrumpf was a tenured faculty member in the College of Nursing at the University of Akron where she received an award for Outstanding Professor. She joined Jefferson after serving as in-house legal counsel for a major healthcare system in Pennsylvania and more than 15 years in private practice, most recently, as a shareholder in the national healthcare practice at Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC. She is a member of the Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, and Indiana bars.

Patricia Musumeci joined the Office of University Counsel in August 2005. Ms. Musumeci manages the office and supervises its support staff. Under the direction of University Counsel, Ms. Musumeci acts as liaison for daily issues received by the office. She works closely with University Counsel in performing ad hoc projects and coordinates department activities. Her responsibilities include preparing budget submissions, monitoring spending, staff hiring, staff scheduling, and overseeing work assignments, to ensure quality and that timetables are met.

Mr. Rubinoff services as the legal advisor in the Office of Legal Affairs for a variety of intellectual-related items. These include providing counsel in regards to outbound licenses of Jefferson intellectual property, collaboration agreements with industry and other academic institutions, inbound technology and services agreements, and general commercial agreements for Jefferson and its related hospitals, as well as managing the university’s intellectual property portfolio.

Mr. Rubinoff received his law degree, magna cum laude, from Western New England School of Law in 1995, where he served on the Law Review. He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh in 1992. Mr. Rubinoff joined Jefferson having most recently worked for nine years at a Fortune 500 software company. Prior to that, Mr. Rubinoff worked in private practice, with seven years spent at Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP, providing technology, licensing, commercial, and general legal advice to established and startup companies. Between undergraduate school and law school, Mr. Rubinoff worked at AMP Inc. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar.
