Research
The Interventional Radiology Division is involved in a variety of research endeavors. Members of the division have recently participated in federally funded trials, including:
Grant-funded prospective trials
- Evaluating Uterine Fibroid Embolization with Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasound Imaging (CEUS) and Superb Microvascular Imaging (SMI)
- BCNU (300mg) chemoembolization for the treatment uveal melanoma hepatic metastases
- A Phase II randomized double-blinded clinical study comparing treatment of uveal melanoma liver metastases with granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) versus bland embolization
- A phase I/IIa NIH supported clinical single-institutional trial. Immunoembolization of malignant liver tumor with granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and ethiodized oil followed by gelatin sponge pledgets
- Ultrasound Microbubble Destruction and Perfusion Quantification for Improving Radioembolization Therapy of Hepatocellular Carcinoma
Single-institutional trials
- A Single-Institutional Study using Immunoembolization (GM-CSF) and Systemic Ipilimumab and Nivolumab in Patients with Uveal Melanoma Metastatic to the Liver
- Pilot study of Yttrium-90 Microspheres (SIR-Spheres) Therapy for the Treatment of Uveal Melanoma Liver Metastases. Phase II, Single Institution, Clinical Trial
- Circulating Tumor DNA in High-Risk Primary and Recurrent Uveal Melanoma Patients
Multi-institutional trials
- Survey of Co-Morbidities of Pelvic Congestion Syndrome Pre and Post Treatment
- A Feasibility Multicenter Study of Sequential Hepatic Internal Radiation and Systemic Ipilimumab and Nivolumab in Patients with Uveal Melanoma Metastatic to Liver
- Efficacy Evaluation of TheraSphere in Patients With Inoperable Liver Cancer (STOP-HCC)
- A Multicenter Observational Registry to Develop Ablation Parameter Guidance for Microwave Liver Ablation of Soft Tissue Lesions (NOLA) NEUwave
- Chronic Venous Thrombosis: Relief With Adjunctive Catheter-Directed Therapy (The C-TRACT Trial) (C-TRACT)
- A Randomized, Controlled, Phase 3 Study to Evaluate the Efficacy, Safety and Pharmacokinetics of Melphalan/HDS Treatment in Patients with Hepatic-Dominant Ocular Melanoma Metastases
- A Multicenter Trial using LC Bead Embolization Agent with Doxorubicin; Chemoembolic Agent for use in the Treatment of Uveal Melanoma Liver Metastases
