Training the next generation of leaders to define the future of Maternal-Fetal Medicine

The fully accredited, three-year Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Fellowship at Thomas Jefferson University is one of the largest, longest-running and most successful MFM fellowship programs in the country. The structure of the three-year training serves as a model for the optimal balance between clinical acumen and research experience needed for a successful and productive career in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.

Virtual Visits

Thomas Jefferson University has suspended all on-campus visit opportunities until further notice. Our doors may be temporarily closed, but our lines of communication are always open. We offer comprehensive virtual visit opportunities and live chat with admission officials.

Research Experience

We are leaders in clinical research and support our trainees to become the same with extensive mentorship and resources. Compared to other MFM fellowships, our fellows publish research in greater numbers with greater impact. You come here to change the world with nationally funded research that redefines MFM and OB care. Our Jefferson MFM fellows have published research that has changed national and international guidelines in obstetrics, including:

  • Cesarean incision closure
  • Universal cervical length screening
  • Use of cerclage
  • Second stage of labor length
  • Use of dual agents for induction
  • Gestational diabetes screening
  • Management of PROM at 34 weeks

Clinical Experience

Our MFM Fellowship offers extensive training in clinical settings with high patient volume and diversity, guided by mentorship and team-based collaboration. As a referral center, our fellows benefit from a breadth of clinical experience with unique opportunities in education, patient counseling and performance procedures.

Our dedication to providing the highest level of evidence-based care has been recognized nationally and internationally. As a TJU MFM fellow, you will be training with the best.

Global Opportunities & Advanced Degrees

Beyond training experts in Maternal-Fetal Medicine, we recognize the importance of cultivating compassionate, well-rounded physicians. We encourage our fellows to broaden their training at Thomas Jefferson University, pursuing global health opportunities and additional degrees at our College of Population Health and College of Life Sciences.
