Immunology Center
Staffed by infectious disease and hematologic specialists, the Immunology Center divides diagnostic and treatment services between three groups of patients:
- General Infectious Disease Patients. Clinicians from the Division of Infectious Diseases consult on complicated infectious disease cases. They offer experienced care for Lyme disease, osteomyelitis, and tuberculosis, among other diseases.
- Patients With HIV/AIDS. Clinicians in the center follow HIV/AIDS patients as their primary physicians, overseeing all of the various types of care they may require. We have a longstanding HIV/AIDS treatment program that has helped to influence drug therapies.
- Patients Participating in Clinical Trials. The Division of Infectious Diseases at Thomas Jefferson University is designated to participate in clinical trials, making certain experimental drugs available to HIV-infected patients. Individuals who are HIV positive and meet the enrollment requirements are eligible to enroll in clinical trials. The division has an active HIV clinical research program bringing state-of-the-art treatments to patients. These clinical trials consist of investigation drugs, therapies, and treatment strategies for the treatment of both naive and experienced patients.
