Why did you choose this specialty and in which diseases are you focused? I became a physician because working with patients to help keep them healthy is the most rewarding job that I can think of. I see patients for a wide variety of endocrine disorders including diabetes, thyroid, pituitary, adrenal, gonadal, and bone/calcium issues.
What research are you currently involved in? I was the principal investigator on the study titled “Impact of Flash Glucose Monitoring on Behavior Modification, Quality of Life, and Treatment Satisfaction in Noninsulin Treated Patients with Type 2 Diabetes” which was presented at the national American Diabetes Association meeting in June 2023. I am also involved with several research studies involving the efficacy of novel insulins and diabetes drugs that promote weight loss.
How will research specifically help patients? All of our studies are open to Jefferson patients that meet criteria. They are critical to help providers determine which treatments are the best choice for patients. We would not be able to determine if new treatments are superior to old ones without clinical trials and research.
What patient support/education programs at Jefferson are you involved in? I am part of the Jefferson Men’s Health Program that incorporates a multidisciplinary approach to treatment and provides the expertise of various medical professionals.
Importance of philanthropy in research, education, and patient support at Jefferson The Jefferson community focuses on providing optimal care for our patients through our esteemed physicians and cutting-edge research. Research performed throughout Jefferson enables us to provide our patients access to the highest quality treatments, and develop a pipeline for even better patient management in the future. Moreover, patient education and support is critical to the ability of patients and their providers to understand and optimally manage their care.
