Our Mission

The mission of the Department of Emergency Medicine is to provide quality, compassionate and expeditious care to our patients and our community.  Our goals are achieved through shared values of integrity, respect, teamwork and communication.  

The Department is based at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals, with two locations – Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Center City, a 717-bed tertiary and quaternary care hospital with approximately 82,000 Emergency Department visits per year, and TJUH Methodist Hospital Division, a 220-bed community hospital in South Philadelphia with approximately 40,000 Emergency Department visits per year.  The Department also provides care at four Urgent Care centers and virtually through JeffConnect On-Demand telehealth.
