The MS in Fashion Design Technology program is designed for flexibility. A hybrid flexible learning model and specialized areas of study allow for a customizable learning experience.
Regardless of your focus of study, students will learn to survey brand strategies, brand aesthetic, and product assortment across channels of distribution based on defined strategies. They will develop the ability to drive change by identifying, examining and critiquing the intersection of design, technology, and sustainability.

Non-design degree applicants or applicants who need to enhance their design skills must successfully complete foundational courses in Fashion Design Technology (FDT) during their first semester.
Focuses of Study
Fashion Design Technology + Sustainability Leadership Certificate
Explore concepts and practices of leadership development, and leadership emergence through the lens of professional design. In this focus of study, students develop a sense of ethical standards, and desire to construct purpose-driven business models. Completion of a Sustainable Leadership Certificate is also imbedded in this track.

Fashion Design Technology Innovation + Digital Fashion
Understand the working of fashion collaboratively with current industry technology. Students in this focus of study explore the use of 3D tools, virtual reality, and other digital tools to examine the future of the fashion industry.

Fashion Design Technology + Innovation
Understand the importance of marketing and product management within the larger Global Fashion Industry. Students in this focus of study critically examine different business model frameworks, especially those aligned with the circular economy, for a deeper understanding of what drives brand success.

Fashion Design Technology + Textile Design
Research and discover how new textile design methods, technology, and fabrications are driving the fashion industry forward. Students in this focus of study examine the textile design and testing process for a deeper understanding of what goes into the fabric used to make clothing.

Areas of focus such as pattern development & drafting, technical design and garment structures allows a student to develop innovative garments that consider how technology integrates into the design process.
