Welcome to the Department of Architecture at Jefferson!

The architecture programs are founded on the belief that architecture has the power to improve lives by activating, facilitating and substantiating innovative and inclusive design for all communities and environments. Faculty with diverse perspectives and backgrounds foster an innovative, interdisciplinary academic experience that positions architecture at the dynamic center of social, cultural, historical, technological, and physical environments within our shared world.

Our department is committed to excellence in a multidisciplinary education in the broad and complex field of architecture. We house two undergraduate programs and four graduate programs.

Our five-year Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture programs are accredited by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and our programs are STEM designated.

Our expert faculty at Jefferson have extensive academic credentials and professional experience reflected in their areas of teaching including research, design, visualization, history/ theory, technology, professional management, digital making, community design, informal settlements, historic buildings and sustainability.  As a student of architecture and historic preservation at Jefferson you will learn through a curricular process which strives for a creative balance of theory and practice in preparation for a dynamic and exciting future. You will be encouraged to personalize this balance by experiencing elective course offerings in our College of Architecture and the Built Environment which provide interdisciplinary opportunities to expand upon your personal interests.
