The Department of Radiation Oncology at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital (TJUH) is proud to announce that it achieved enterprise-wide accreditation by the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) Accreditation Program for Excellence® in October 2021. This accreditation demonstrates that all TJUH Radiation Oncology treatment centers are operating at the same high level of performance, a major statement for harmonization across all five treatment locations (Bodine Center for Cancer Treatment - TJUH; Jefferson Hospital for Neuroscience; Jefferson Torresdale Hospital; Asplundh Cancer Pavilion - Jefferson Health; and Jefferson New Jersey - Washington Township). 

Achieving accreditation was a very large effort over the course of nearly two years, primarily led by Amy S. Harrison, PhD - Associate Professor of Radiation Oncology and Enterprise Director, Quality and Safety; and Kathleen Wilson, RTT - Associate Chief Radiation Therapist. 

APEx was developed by radiation oncology professionals from the world’s premier radiation oncology society, to recognize facilities that deliver safe, high-quality care to their patients. Radiation oncology practices that earn accreditation through APEx demonstrate the systems, personnel, policies, and procedures needed to meet APEx Standards.
