Research & Clinical Interests
My group works to develop novel modeling approaches that flexibly integrate social determinants of health with biomarkers and clinical data to further understand potential prevention strategies with a focus on minorities. I have Komen funding with Dr. Troester at UNC and Dr. Tomi Akinyemiju at Duke to study the integration of SDOH and biomarkers in metastatic breast cancer. I have Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) support to obtain long-term follow-up on patients in a Phase 3 study of DCIS and additional BCRF support for a health equity project focused on integrating SDOH and genomic markers. Finally, I have an Aim within an NCI study, partnering with Dr. Epplein from Duke, focused on developing a cells-to-society model of gastric cancer and H-pylori.
