  • Admission Communication Quality Improvement Project – IRB-approved pilot study complete with significant increase in subjective provider satisfaction and promising patient safety trends including reduced RRT and ICU transfers within 24 hours of admission, 30-day readmission, mortality, and length of stay; broader implementation planning is on-going (2016-Present)
  • Immunosuppressive Lab Draw Timing Quality Improvement Project – IRB-approved data collection and analysis is on-going; preliminary data suggests significant increase in appropriately-timed lab draws (2017-Present)
  • Inpatient Electrolyte Repletion Quality Improvement Project – pilot proposal under review for pre-post study; initial estimates suggest the intervention can improve patient comfort, reduce lab draws and save Thomas Jefferson University Hospital ~$200-400K annually (2017-Present)
  • Inpatient Sleep Enhancement Quality Improvement Project – IRB-approved pilot study complete with trends toward improved patient sleep time and fewer overnight disturbances and significant improvement in patient sleep efficiency; planning for broader pre-post trial is on-going (2017-Present)

Mayo Clinic

  • “DELTA” – created CDSS and algorithm to help clinicians discover distressing or positive trends in their patients (2012-2018)
  •  “PRUDENCE” – developed algorithmic-based tool to reduce outpatient medication cost – saving patients to date 88% ($5,500 per patient per year) on average; IRB-approved prospective trial presently enrolling patients (2014-Present)
  • “CLARITY” – randomized study of high-value care delivery intervention showing trend toward improved high-value care delivery, significant reduction in mortality, and trend toward improved cost knowledge (2014-2016)
  • “FIAT LUX” – IRB-approved study of resident physician light exposure and cognitive and physical performance, subjective sleepiness, and mood outcomes (2015-2018)
