Welcome from the Program Directors

People experiencing addiction face enormous personal and societal challenges to reclaim their lives and health. Compassionate, highly skilled addiction medicine specialists can make an enormous positive impact on this population. The Addiction Medicine fellowship at Sidney Kimmel Medical College provides an opportunity to train in an environment known for clinical excellence, innovative community-based research, and a commitment to improving the experience of care for highly stigmatized populations.

Philadelphia has been devastated by the 4th wave of the overdose crisis, characterized by rising fatalities involving opioids and stimulants, marked racial disparities, and catastrophic disabilities from xylazine related wounds. With characteristic grit, Philadelphia and Jefferson has responded with multi-sector collaboration, multi-level innovation, community inclusion, and hope. Our large and dedicated team has co-created the Jefferson Addiction Multidisciplinary Services including The Stephen and Sandra Sheller Consult and Bridge Program

ACGME accredited in 2020, the Addiction Medicine Fellowship Program at Sidney Kimmel Medical College/Thomas Jefferson University offers training in a dynamic environment known for clinical excellence, innovative community-based research, and a commitment to improving the experience of care for highly stigmatized populations. Fellows in our program not only gain valuable experience with the medical management of substance use disorder, but also develop important skills in care coordination, harm reduction, and patient-centered care.

Our fellowship is open to physicians who have completed residency training in any of the 24 primary specialties. We invite you to view our webpage to learn more about our faculty, clinical rotations, and how to apply.

Our addiction medicine fellowship has experienced enormous growth in training opportunities. Whether you are a medical student or a resident considering a career in this rewarding field, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly.
