Research & Clinical Interests

Dr. Talero has extensive clinical experience in the USA and abroad, caring for pediatric, young-adult, adult, and older-adult populations in different settings (community-based, K-8 schools, skilled nursing facility, inpatient rehab, acute rehab, and acute psychosocial care); experience designing and implementing international academic service-learning and capacity-building projects and partnerships in Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, and Guatemala; experience in leading, designing, and implementing community-based programs with a research component; and experience in bilingual peer-review editorial processes. Her areas of research and clinical interest include critical perspectives of participation and social inclusion through human occupation, cultural and environmental issues related to human activity, chronic illness, and disability, social determinants of health, social neuroscience, and health and social justice.
