Biography
Ricker Adkins is an assistant professor in the Department of Athletic Training in the College of Rehabilitation Sciences. He recently just graduated with his clinical doctorate in athletic training along with the certification for Teaching in Higher Education from Temple University. While working for Temple University’s athletic department for over five years he oversaw care for several teams including primary coverage of the women’s basketball, men’s soccer, men’s crew, women’s rowing and tennis teams. Adkins also served as an adjunct instructor and preceptor for the Kinesiology Department.
Prior to his arrival in Philadelphia, Adkins spent three years working collegiately in Kentucky (Georgetown College, Eastern Kentucky) before landing on North Broad Street.
At Georgetown, he served as the athletic trainer for all of the Tigers’ athletic programs, including the 2012 NAIA National Championship men’s basketball team. Adkins also played an integral role in the Kinesiology Department’s reaccreditation from CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education).
Prior to his stint at Georgetown, Adkins spent two years at Eastern Kentucky, where he earned a master’s degree in exercise and sport science. With the Colonels, he served as the athletic trainer for the women’s soccer and baseball team, the latter of which won the Ohio Valley Conference regular season title for the first time in over 10 years.
Adkins graduated from the University of Delaware with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training in 2010.
