Dr. Charnita Zeigler-Johnson studies cancer disparities and risk factors that influence cancer occurrence, progression, and treatment outcomes.  Her research focus includes prostate cancer, lung caner, genetic polymorphisms, biomarkers, obesity, socioeconomic status and neighborhood characteristics that vary by race/ethnicity.  She also conducts multi-level and multi-disciplinary research in the development of community-based interventions.  Her research goals are to identify possible modes of cancer prevention in high-risk populations and to provide new understanding about how contextual factors influence disease outcomes.

Dr. Zeigler-Johnson received MPH and PhD degrees in epidemiology from the Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh. She completed post-doctoral work in molecular epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania. She currently serves as Associate Professor of Cancer Prevention and Control at Fox Chase Cancer Center.   Dr. Zeigler-Johnson is an active member of the African-Caribbean Cancer Consortium and the Pennsylvania Cancer Coalition.
