Meet MPH Student & Jefferson Employee Molly O'Donnell
Molly O'Donnell is an MPH student in the JeffLPHT Program at JCPH, which is a pathway specifically designed for Thomas Jefferson University employees.
Where are you from originally?
Pompano Beach, Florida. I attended Florida Gulf Coast University for undergrad and received my bachelor’s in health science.
Why did you choose Jefferson?
As an HR professional at Jefferson, I’ve seen first-hand how incredible the University is. After learning more about the MPH program and the impact its students and initiatives have on Philadelphia, the decision to apply to the program was easy. I am so proud to be an employee and a student at Jefferson.
What is the best part of your studies?
I’ve really enjoyed learning about the impact public health has on individuals, society and the world. I love seeing how small and large changes can improve lives. I’m looking forward to continuing my studies as I progress further in the program.
Tell us about a project you’re working on.
In my Society, Behavior and the Environment course, I am studying the impact of encouraging BRCA gene testing in women predisposed to developing breast cancer. Except for skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in the U.S. I am invested in finding ways to minimize its prevalence.
What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?
I absolutely love to cook! I grew up watching my mom in the kitchen, and that passion has grown over time. In my free time, you can find me looking for new recipes, cooking a classic or asking my fiancé to try something new that I’ve concocted.
