Meet Our Staff: Mariah Carpenter
What do you do at Jefferson?
I recently became Program Coordinator in the Office of Academic Affairs at Jefferson College of Population Health (JCPH), where I provide support for students and faculty.
I first started at JCPH as a JeffTemp in 2016 – soon after graduating with my bachelor’s degree in public health from La Salle University. I was excited to be in an academic environment where I could continue to learn more about the disciplines and programs that comprise JCPH. I eventually became a full-time employee.
What do you like best about working at JCPH?
I like the hands-on experiences which motivate me to enhance my skills and grow. I have really valued the encouragement received and the professional and personal relationships I’ve developed over the years. I have also valued how innovative Jefferson is in improving healthcare and promoting health equity. As someone who comes from a family of Jefferson hospital workers, I’m inspired!
Where are you from originally?
I am a Philly girl! I was born and raised in West Philly, and a proud graduate of J.W. Hallahan Catholic Girls High.
What would we be surprised to learn about you?
Some people know me as the “cord whisperer” because I am a bit of a tech geek. I like to tinker and problem-solve.
