As a Thomas Jefferson University fashion design student, your immersion into the industry doesn't have to stop at the end of class. Fashion focused extra-curricular activities allow students to delve deeper into whatever aspect of the fashion industry interests them, anywhere from design to merchandising to retail. These groups are responsible for hosting a multitude of fashion related lectures, dinners, pop-up shops, and even fashion shows on TJU's East Falls Campus.
Designers Supporting Designers
DSD strives to bring design students together by giving them a safe space to create connections, share their knowledge, and develop out-of-class experiences to grow. This group provides various resources for students to use including video series, templates, material sources, and more.
Fashion Industry Association
Fashion Industry Association (FIA) is one of the largest co-curricular campus organizations for students interested in the fashion industry. Students from design, merchandising, textile and other academic backgrounds come together to discuss current industry happenings. On-site industry field trips, guest speakers, and panel discussions from industry professionals are a few examples of activities FIA organize for its members. Members of this organization also have the opportunity to help with various fashion events on campus, in the Philadelphia region, and even New York Fashion Week.
Black Retail Action Group
Thomas Jefferson University's Black Retail Action Group (BRAG) is one of nine chapters nationwide. This non-profit organization prepares and educates professionals, entrepreneurs and students of color for executive leadership in retail, fashion and related industries. For more than 40 years, the organization has been fulfilling their mission through workshops, networking events, speaking engagements, scholarships and summer internship programs.
