Joanne Baratta-Sims, MBA
Adjunct Professor
Biography
After working as a designer in the industry for 12 years, Joanne developed her own line of special occasion childrenswear trading under the name of “Sweet Chestnuts”. She is the designer and manufacturing coordinator for her line that is sold nationally in better boutiques. Her company and designs have been featured editorially in many of the Childrenswear trade publications. She was the recipient of an “Earnie Award” for best design in toddler boys. She now has plans to develop a new line of high-end special occasion and christening styles that are sustainably developed. Joanne has been an adjunct at Jefferson for the past 25+ years. In the many classes she has taught, her teaching objective has always been to inspire her students in addition to instructing them. Ultimately, her goal has been to demonstrate how the techniques and lessons that are presented in their classes are all part of the bigger picture of how things are accomplished in the fashion industry.
