Biography
Professor Johnson worked for 27 years in the fashion industry. She possesses extensive knowledge of apparel development, which ranges from concept through production. This experience includes: hand and computer illustration, sourcing, foreign and domestic manufacture and aspects of merchandising. She has extensive travel experience in Hong Kong, China and Macau, liaising with manufacturers, as well as European travel for R&D. As an educator, her areas of expertise include guiding students through creative research process and sketchbook documentation, drawing, fashion illustration techniques, teaching principles of design such as sound composition, cohesive color story, appropriateness of fabrication and awareness of customer niche. As an artist, she is a painter and produces wearable pieces incorporating collage techniques.
