Government, non-profit, and industry-led healthcare efforts affect nearly every human. To be successful, these efforts require strong, multi-disciplinary expertise in business, design, and communication to navigate and equally consider the intersection of financial, ethical, and cultural requirements of the communities served. A Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Health Communication Design is structured to provide students with a competitive edge for leadership and innovation in healthcare fields.
Students gain experience addressing critical and complex health challenges for people, communities, healthcare providers, and policymakers. Health Communication Design coursework employs theory and practice-based design skills to create health-related change that improves the human condition. Coursework employs a process informed by user-centered research, empathy, and a transdisciplinary, collaborative, multi-modal approach. Students can self-select topics for exploration within themes of:
- Design and Communication for Disease Prevention, Management and Cure and
- Design and Communication for Life Stages and Identity.
Through participation in this 9-12 credit concentration, MBA students will be able to:
- Compare researched healthcare examples and use findings to inform new communication design approaches.
- Assess the work of others, in group and individual projects, by offering a personal point-of-view (POV), preparing useful feedback, and employing industry-standard critique practices.
- Imagine forward-thinking communication solutions, that with future technologies, could have significant impact on a challenged community and could be scalable geographically.
- Develop the ability to assess information and determine a way of organizing it into a form that best represents the data and communicates key insights.
