A design, research, and academic initiative dedicated to studying the impact of dynamic and interactive art + design on healing.
Located within the Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce, The Jefferson Center of Immersive Arts for Health serves as a platform for collaborative teaching, research, and prototyping where dynamic and interactive design technologies fuse with patient experience. It is a multi-tiered cross-disciplinary approach dedicated to studying the impact of dynamic and interactive art + design on healing and neurodiversity, and is the result of a growing collaborative effort across 14 different design, research, and clinical departments.
Mission
The Jefferson Center of Immersive Arts for Health’s mission is to study, test, and integrate Dynamic and Interactive Art as an active component of an improved healing experience.
- To study we are developing cross disciplinary curriculum between the Arts + Design, Technology, Science, and Medicine - both within Jefferson and with external partners - where students from different fields will work together to solve problems.
- To test we are assembling a team of cross disciplinary specialists, formulating the questions to ask, the interactions to create, the research methodologies to develop, and the data to collect.
- To integrate we will be setting recommendations based on research outcomes to intentionally curate a collection of art that would create optimal environments for healing and ongoing research.
