Application Requirements & Instructions

Integrative health is an emerging specialty that is of expanding interest. In 2018, it was estimated that more than 60% of the global population used some form of nontraditional treatment for health issues; yet, there is limited medical education on common and scientific promising modalities.

Program Overview

The Advanced Practice Certificate in Integrative Health Education & Leadership focuses on the theories, evidence for and practice of integrative health education approaches and prepares students to meet patients’ growing demand of complementary practices. A professional healthcare license or current enrollment in a healthcare program leading to licensure is required for admission consideration.

This program builds on existing knowledge of Integrative Health. It is for individuals who have significant background in the field, or for those who have taken or are enrolled in the other two Integrative Health advanced practice certificates: Mind-Body Medicine and Integrative Nutrition. These three certificates, plus a 3-credit capstone course, stack together to make the Master of Science in Integrative Health Sciences.

Program Highlights

All faculty are part of the Department of Integrative Medicine and Nutritional Sciences at Sidney Kimmel Medical College. They are national experts and leaders in the field of integrative medicine. They are also practicing clinicians within the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health.

The Marcus Institute of Integrative Health is focused on expanding the research, education and clinical care profile of Jefferson’s integrative medicine program, and to set the international standard of excellence in evidence-based, patient-centric integrative care.

This is the third of three potentially stackable advanced practice certificates, which can be taken alone or combined for a Masters in Integrative Health Sciences.

The program is offered as a partnership between the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health and the Institute of Emerging Health Professions.
