Research & Clinical Interests
Much of my past research focused on mechanisms of antimicrobial resistance in organisms such as Candida glabrata and Staphylococcus aureus. This research led to the development of novel diagnostic assays to rapidly detect these organisms to facilitate proper treatment. Diagnostic research spread into the field of polymicrobial infections, next generation sequencing and informative diagnostics. I worked for the NJ Department of Agriculture Animal Health Research Laboratory as the section head of the virology and serology department, and oversaw diagnostic testing while developing and improving molecular detection assays. I also have experience in the pharmaceutical industry, and spent 4 years on a major biologic therapeutic drug product. Research focused on manufacturing robustness, shelf life extension, and validation of alternative packaging components.
