Program Overview
The 66-credit MS degree in Community and Trauma Counseling PLUS Concentration in Child Trauma and Play Therapy trains exceptionally skilled child and adolescent therapists who are uniquely equipped with trauma competencies and knowledge, coupled with play therapy techniques and applications to support the health and emotional wellbeing of children and families. The program prepares graduates for state licensure and national certification in professional counseling (LPC/NCC) and the Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT) credential.
Two formats are available to achieve your educational goals with your schedule: daytime and evening. Students in the daytime format will be required to attend a small number of evening classes.
Accreditation Status
CTC houses the Center for Child Trauma and Play Therapy, which grants play therapy specific education hours for students seeking the Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT) credential.
The Community and Trauma Counseling MS program at Thomas Jefferson University is accredited for 8 years by a specialized accreditor, the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. (MS only)
Curriculum
