Meet Our Student: David Zaveloff

David is in the MS in historic preservation program at Jefferson.

Where are you from originally?

I grew up in Bordentown, NJ and now live in Jenkintown with my wife and kids.

Why did you choose Jefferson?

The program fit my lifestyle needs and having gone to Jefferson (then Philadelphia University) as an undergrad (many, many years ago), I knew that the university and faculty were dedicated to helping me succeed.

Tell us about your Historic Preservation internships. What have you learned?

I’ve worked for the Preservation Alliance for Greater Philadelphia for over a year. The experience has been invaluable, and has given me a sense of what preservation can be like in the real world. It’s also shown me that a small group of dedicated people can make a difference.

Anything else you’re working on?

I was recently asked to present my paper on the construction and preservation of sod houses to the Construction History Society of America, and I’ve been asked to submit another paper on structural pigmented glass to a respected journal.

What is the best part of your studies?

The variety of classes, and how willing the faculty are to help.

What’s something people would be surprised to find out about you?

I worked as a full-time professional wedding photographer for 15+ years and am a really good baker.
