Master of Architecture Program Receives Accreditation

The Master of Architecture program, within the College of Architecture & the Built Environment (CABE), was recently granted continued accreditation by the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB). The program was awarded an eight-year accreditation term, the maximum a program can receive and indicates that the program provides a well-rounded and rigorous professional degree, measured by its curriculum, student experience, faculty, resources and outcomes.

“We are proud to have received a full 8-year accreditation term granted by the National Architectural Accrediting Board for the MArch program reflecting the program’s strong commitment to sustainability, social equity and design excellence,” says CABE Dean Barbara Klinkhammer.

According to NAAB, the program met the requirements through “the integrated nature of the program, both within the institution and geographically in the region with strong active community engagement.” The board also noted that the curriculum offers many opportunities for alumni interactions and interdisciplinary opportunities.

Program Director Evan Pruitt notes that he is proud of the faculty and students who enabled this “fantastic achievement.”

“It is a testament that our ambitions to educate the next generation of architects with the skills they need to make a positive impact on the built environment are succeeding,” says Pruitt. “The stability the 8-year term brings allows us to think even more critically about what we do, why and how. We are eager to continue to develop the program as active participants in defining the future of the profession.”
